This is a FREE file compression utility. You can use it to unzip your compressed pictures. Of course, you first need an utility to compress them. Unfortunately, this Wizard needs to learn new magic tricks, because it can´t neither create compressed archives nor extract other file formats apart from ZIP.
Furthermore, if you consider that extracting a compressed archive using this Wizard implies six different steps, you will find the built in ZIP support included in Windows easier and faster.
This utility is somehow useless, first, because ZIP support is already included by default in Windows XP and Vista. Second, because there are other powerful file compression utilities that support many other popular file compression formats like RAR, 7z or ACE3.
If you know how to select a file in Windows Explorer, you certainly don't need a Wizard to extract compressed ZIP archives. You can do it inside Windows Explorer with just a right click.
So, if you need a file compression utility, first try other FREE and powerful alternatives like ALZip, 7Zip and QuickZip. If you want to pay for something extremely easy to use, even easier than this fake wizard, try AlphaZip. But if you're not afraid to use a full featured utility and can afford it, then PowerArchiver, WinRAR and WinZIP are possible choices. The only thing you may like of this utility is the drawing of the Wizard. On the other hand, if you like graphics, the egg of ALZip also looks nice and is by far more powerful and useful. |
